PTI compliance guidelines require your company to have proper traceability systems in place. These systems must accurately track all products at the case level from harvest through customer shipment.
How Do I Become "PTI Compliant"?
Simply stated, growers, packers and shippers must label each case with a GTIN and lot number. To effectively manage this; growers, packers and shippers must have automated, electronic traceability systems.
A strong PTI-complaint internal traceability system provides the case labels and electronic records needed for external traceability. Both are needed to achieve standardized "whole chain traceability";
- Internal traceability systems track data and processes within your own operation.
- External traceability systems communicate and exchange information with outside business partners to trace and trace product up and down the supply chain.
